Knowledge Management System (KMS)

Knowledge Systems Incorporated

Knowledge Management System (KMS) is a distributed hypertext system forcreating and managing knowledge at all levels of an organization --individual, a workgroup, or an entire organization. KMS can represent, ina single unified environment, the knowledge for a broad range ofapplications, including electronic publishing, project management, electronic mail/bulletin boards, software engineering, computer-aidedinstruction, and computer-aided design.Text, graphics, and images are integrated in screen-sized workspacescalled frames, which are maintained in WYSIWYG form using a singleeditor. Frames are linked together to form a hypertext "database," whichcan be browsed, changed, and used to produce formatted hard copydocuments. The database may be distributed across many servers on anetwork and, thus, shared by many people.KMS has a highly efficient direct-manipulation interface. More than 90percent of user interactions are optimal, requiring only a single point-and-click with the mouse.
